Ways these Denver Broncos and the flexible quarterback can halt that Kansas City Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates features live text of the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available through designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and following last week's discussion about two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their perfect starts.

Striking in those games were the amount of infractions each conceded. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter against Denver, who play overseas this Sunday.

However it was good to see that Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome the shortfall before lead three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They are first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They executed the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They did not necessarily sending more than four defenders instead they could plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.

Early on in the campaign, we said during a show that the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended last season strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled big while new running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

That shows that the Broncos represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in favourable situations.

It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to pass all over, however they lack in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he's so athletic.

His assets include his mobility, being able to throw on the run, as well as using different arm angles to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can deliver that layered pass over the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and remains very decisive.

If you consistently rush it eats up the clock and forces the defence to stay on the field for longer, and if you have a mobile QB the defence must cover the field downfield side to side. It can be draining.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton during games at times and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to coach a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can truly develop him the way he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach owns a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps shape him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to hold their division. All they need to do to continue this path.

They excel at leaning into their strength, which is the ground game, and that's precisely what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win a game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to be without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.

The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the West.

It depends on which form of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
