The Three Lions to Start Euro 2028 Journey at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium
The England national team will commence their Euro 2028 adventure at the the home of Manchester City, provided that they secure the expected qualification for a tournament staged throughout the majority of the UK and the Irish Republic.
Manchester City’s home ground has not staged an English men’s match since eight years ago, when the Turkish team were beaten 2-1 in a friendly, but is almost certain to host the England side for their first match on Saturday 10 June 2028.
The English side are scheduled to play their concluding group fixtures at the national stadium, but, should they win the preliminary round, their last-16 tie would occur at the Newcastle stadium. Securing the runner-up spot would mean starting the playoffs at Everton’s ground.
Championship Opening and Demonstration
The event was launched at an gathering in Piccadilly Circus on Wednesday evening. High-ranking officials from the tournament organizers and the organizing bodies were heckled as they entered the location by about 50 protesters, who demanded Israel’s national side to be expelled from international football because of the conflict in Gaza.
Placards were held up with messages stating “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while activists chanted: “Kick Israel out.”
Tournament Fixture List
The inaugural fixture of Euro 2028 will be staged at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, on Friday 9 June, a match that will feature Wales if they qualify.
Wembley will host the penultimate rounds and the championship match, which will be played on Sunday 9 July with a commencement at 5:00 PM.

The Ireland are due to play their initial fixture at the Dublin Arena and Scotland would play similarly at Hampden Park.
The national sides of all four hosts will take part in the qualification process; two automatic spots will be held in reserve for any that miss out on the finals through the qualification path.

The Birmingham venue and The North London arena complete the event’s nine venues. Each one will hold at least one knockout match, with the quarterfinal matches held at the national stadium of each host.
The qualification draw will be held in the Northern Irish capital, which was excluded as a venue city last year when it emerged Casement Park could not be upgraded in time, on 6 December 2026.
