Person That Touched Ariana Grande during Film Launch Barred from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted across a fence and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and prohibited from Singapore.
The individual, 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in jail for causing a public disturbance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities informed Singaporean press.
The man shoved through camera crews and charged at the actress and singer, who was participating in the regional launch for the film on the thirteenth of November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
The individual has a record of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.
The incident provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The pop star has discussed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in the English city in spring of 2017 resulted in the deaths of over twenty people and injured hundreds.
Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the movie's debut on two occasions, according to regional reports.
He then made a another effort to jump the barricades. Protection personnel stopped him and restrained him.
He then uploaded video clips thanking Grande for letting him on the carpet and said he was "at liberty."
Law enforcement took him into custody the following day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The Court Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by media reports as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was wrong to assume he would not face any penalties.
The singer has not commented on the incident.
The co-star spoke about the incident to a media outlet, remarking that she "simply desired to make sure my colleague was safe."
"I'm sure he didn't intend us harm, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I sought to confirm that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
