Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
