Canada's Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown With defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros winning the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, making him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I want up in that spot except for Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays won the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
