Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got significant support from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known failings from his team in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase like this with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
